Richard is a Chartered Engineer with 14 years of experience in the field of building control systems and getting occupant feedback from buildings. He is focused on innovation with interest in ‘open source’ controls (as a mechanism to change the building controls supply chain from design through to operation to deliver true ‘openness’), building system analytics, model predictive control, demand response and dynamic occupant feedback. Richard has extensive knowledge of HVAC control systems (BMS), metering systems and open protocols. He is a specialist in occupant satisfaction evaluation and he leads this initiative within Arup. Richard believes occupant feedback is key to optimising control systems to aid comfort and wellbeing.
