biography
Eliot Lear is a thirty-year veteran in Internet technology, and serves as Principal Engineer for Cisco Systems and the author of numerous standards and best practices. He has held a variety of industry leadership positions, and advises governments on cybersecurity. His current focus is on security of the Internet of Things, where he has developed Manufacturer Usage Descriptions, a method of network protection for Things based on their specific designs. Prior to joining Cisco in 1998, Eliot was the Internet Architect for Silicon Graphics. He is a graduate of Rutgers University. Eliot resides in Switzerland, where he enjoys skiing (burning calories) and cooking (gaining them back).
